Season four of Kindred Spirits is in full effect, airing every Friday night at 9pm/8c. on Travel Channel. And because of that, we are getting a ton of great questions!
I’m going to answer a common question here on my blog every day this week up until another new episode Friday night.
So….I would say the NUMBER one question we get is,
“WHY DO YOU INVESTIGATE AT NIGHT?”
We investigate at night because the opportunity for contamination from outside sources is much lower. At night, the world slows down, traffic is at a minimum, people are sleeping, businesses are closed, etc. It’s just a lot more feasible for us to rule things out and/or experience activity when it’s night time. Also, many light anomalies seem to be more evident in the dark.
That being said, we have adopted an approach where we still have dim lighting with lanterns, as opposed to being in pitch darkness like we used to do. Also, if someone says to us that the bulk of the activity happens in the day, we would certainly incorporate daytime investigating as well.
Hope that helps! What question should I answer tomorrow?
Hey there. I know the answer to this! Back when Amy was on Ghost Hunters and that show was at the top of their game, and the best paranormal show around, they did a spin off show called Ghost Hunters Academy. This was a survival style show where wanna be paranormal
Investigators did a series of tests etc. this was to find a new investigator for the show. Adam was one of the contestants and he won and that is when he and Amy met and there was a clear connection between them.
Amy,
I have watched you on both shows. Being a “Detective” in law enforcement and being into Spirit is much harder to explain since it is not “black and white,” and I have strived to bridge the gap without getting into religion as much as possible. What equipment would you recommend for basic ghost detective beginners to have on hand, that would be good to help explain some of the “anomalies” people tend to see on a regular basis? Thanks!
Hi Amy,
Capturing the EVP is only the first part, the big step seems to be deciphering what it says. How much of that do you think is natural ability vs honed skill? And do you have any tips for folks learning to capture and listen to them?
Thanks for taking the time to read my question. Keep up the wonderful work!
Best wishes,
Kathy
Can spirits talk to one another? Like if one is from 1900’s an one is more recent like 2015. Do they an can they talk to each other ? Have you an Adam caught this before? Love you guys !!❤❤❤
Hi Amy,
I did ask this before on Twitter but never got a response.. so I will try again; How did you Adam start investigating together? Thanks..much love to you both
The answer to your question is above. Someone asked the same question.
I’ve always wondered why when you and Adam do EVP sessions, that you ask if there is anyone not living who would like to speak with you? What if it is a residual haunt and they don’t know they’re dead? Or, is it only intelligent haunts that can communicate through EVP?
Residuals are, by definition, a leftover. Think of a movie clip running on a loop. Only the intelligent haunts communicate. And the intelligent ones can learn. We have one here who is extremely intelligent, and cooperative. And she has the ability to move quite large objects. And borrows books to read, and then returns them.
This isn’t scary, but can be quite startling when you first experience it. Think of the quote from Einstein: “Energy can neither be created, nor can it be destroyed. It can merely change form.” Life as we know it is a form of energy that can use other forms of energy. Lots of quantum physics here, too.
Have you considered using an energy generator with low voltage lights nearby to get yes, no, maybe answers.
This may seem ridiculous to a pro, but I’ve heard and read that watching these shows can let something into your home.
Either way I can’t stop watching these investigations..
Thank you
Hi Amy!
Do you ever let a regular fan accompany you guys on an investigation? I would die for a chance to come one night
-Dana Beck
Is it true that watching these investigations on tv can let in some potential paranormal activity?
Hi Amy!
What causes spirits to stay with us versus moving on to res in peace.
Hi Amy!!
On any of your investigations have you or Adam come across what u believe to be an inhuman spirit??? Cause that would frighten me!
This might be tough to answer, but it seems to me like your show has a “darker tone” this season, I’m just wondering if that is conscious decision on your part or not? Because what I always liked about the old Ghost Hunters show was how down to earth it was. It seemed like there was an effort to present the paranormal as something that is “not dark and scary” and they avoided using the “horror movie type imagery” that’s become common in paranormal shows… not that you guys ever use that on Kindred Spirits… but whenever you and Adam do the “Kindred Spirits: Resurrected” show, it seems a lot more “carefree”, like the old Ghost Hunters, than a standard “Kindred Spirits” episode
How do the answers come through when you do a EVP session? Are they very distinct?
Thank you
Susie
HI Amy,
What happens to the families after you leave? You and Adam are so good at figuring out who the entity is but if there is negative activity, what do you do for that family for when you leave? Do you get feedback from the families if things are livable now?
Thanks Amy!
Hi again Amy,
I meant to ask about the spirit box, do the answers come through distinct?
Thank you
Susie
I’ll ask in the FB post for this also. The technique on how you guys investigate. Is it the same from when you did GH or did you incorporate new ways to communicate?
What is the name of the recorder yall use during the investigations?
When a haunted home burns to the ground, what happens to the spirits?
Hi Amy, wondering if you can share what the actual device is that you use for EVP sessions? A specific brand or model you recommend?
Hi amy, I used to ghost hunt and I love the approach you and adam take to investigating. How do you feel about how other groups investigate? From a huge fan
you’ll do a great job for the families . keep up the great work
Hi,
I was wondering if you and Adam have a routine or ritual you do before your investigations to clear your mind and take a minute away from the intense energies and feelings you deal with? For example: Do you take a walk, read a favorite book or listen to music to mentally prepare?
Did you and Adam know each other prior to GH or is that where you met.
